Management styles can affect employee engagement

Leadership isn’t about the title—it’s about being tuned in. When leaders stop listening, trust cracks and culture suffers. So what does real, engaged leadership look like in 2025?

They’ve got the title.

The team.

The corner office.

(Or at least the top row on Teams or Zoom.)

But real leadership isn’t about the title. It’s about being tuned in.

Too often, people in power get stuck in their own feedback loop—insulated, comfortable, unaware. They start speaking AT their team, instead of WITH their team. And what gets lost? Trust, energy, and retention.

Because when leaders can’t hear the team or what’s happening outside of their fishbowl, even the strongest culture starts to crack.

Leadership isn’t about controlling the noise.

It’s about noticing the quiet.

Knowing when to lean in, when to step back, and how to make space for the people you lead.

As Simon Sinek says: “Leadership is not about being in charge. It’s about taking care of those in your charge.”

The question we’re asking:

What does leadership that truly listens and engages look like in 2025?
